Tutorial Tuesday: Yarn Trees.

Tis the season to make beautiful crafts! This is a very easy craft but I will warn you it is time consuming.

Supplies Needed:
Cardboard Trees
A different color of yarn for how many trees you decide to do
Hot Glue Gun
A topper for the tree or any other decals that you might want to use.

  1. Put down a line of glue at the very bottom of the tree and then lay your yarn down.
  2. Once you get into your second row once you lay down your yarn push it right into the row it's next to so it will be nice a snug.
  3. DON'T over glue, you will not need a lot of glue, if there is to much it gets goopy.
  4. Once you get to the top finish it off with a pretty star or some sort of ornament.
  5. If you feel adventuress you can add some ribbon or little decals up and down your tree.
If you attempt this please share with me how it went! I would love to see how yours turns out!

Tuesday Tutorial: Christmas Banner

At our house Christmas is a big deal and since the beginning of October Christmas has been creeping into our house! Now that it's mid November we feel like we can fully embrace it. I made this cute Christmas banner, it was so easy, super cheap and I think it adds a really fun touch to my Christmas decor so I am sharing it with you!

Supplies:
12x12 paper (at least 3) It's best if you get double sided paper then you will have more options
Ribbon, I needed about 15 ft., that was only one roll for $1.97 at Walmart
Staples
Pencil
Ruler
Scissors

First start by cutting the paper in half. Now you have two pieces of paper and they are each 6x12. On the top of each paper mark a point at 2", 6" and 10". At the bottom of each paper mark at the 4" and 8". You can see below what that should like. Technically my paper hasn't been cut in half yet but hopefully it's clear how to mark it.

Second, you will connect the points together creating triangles. Now cut along those lines.
Next you can lay out all your cute triangles in whatever order you want.

Then place the ribbon on the top of the triangles and staple it to the triangles. It works best with a staple at each end of the triangle. Thats all! Your Done! Hang it up and enjoy!

I decided to do two strands but you can do as many or as little as you want! I have a ton of left overs so who knows I might make some more and put them in my kitchen. If you guys do it let me know how it went and if you blog about it definitely leave a link for me and post a link on your blog too! Merry Christmas!

Tuesday Tutorial: Valentines Decor

Unless you live under a rock {in which case you wouldn't be reading this} you know tomorrow is Valentines Day {or Singles Awareness Day}. You might remember my January craft and if you do this is the same except it's for Valentines Day! This is the first "themed" frame I did so when I pulled it out I thought I did a pretty good/cute job :)

Supples:
Frames
Scrapbook Paper
Matching stickers, punch outs, etc
Glue {maybe} or sticky dots
Any knick knacks you want!

Step 1: Cut out your paper in correct size, mine were 4x6
Step 2: Arrange the papers in the most complimentary way. Think patterns and shades. You can see my really light papers are spread out and my text is spread out.
Step 3: Insert your paper in your frames BUT put the glass underneath the papers so that the paper stays in place but you can still make your design 3D with your knick knacks and stick-ons.
Step 4: Lay out where you want all your accessories and apply!
Step 5: Enjoy and show it off :)

Well sorry for no post on Friday, we went on a little road trip with friends... it was so fun! We went to a Jazz game, did some shopping, ate some amazing food but mostly we enjoyed great company. Aren't friends just the best?

Tuesday Tutorial: Winter Decor

It hasn't been much of a winter wonderland here in Rexburg {which I am loving} but it is still January. Last year I started doing a little themed frame set for each month. This is my January Set. It's pretty basic.

Frames
Scrapbook Paper
Matching stickers, punch outs, etc.

Step 1: Cut out your paper in correct size, mine were 4x6
Step 2: Arrange the papers in the most complimentary way
Step 3: Insert your paper in your frames BUT put the glass underneath the papers so that the paper stays in place but it can remain 3D
Step 4: Lay out where you want all your accessories and apply!
Step 5: Enjoy and show off

Sorry I have been a lame-face blogger guys, I have some wonderful outfits to share with you but I wanted to share this tutorial before January was over! Next month is V-Day so I have some fun tutorials planned!

Tuesday Tutorial: He & She Canvas's

"I used to feel so alone in the city. All those gazillions of
people and then me, on the outside. Because how do
you meet a new person? I was stunned by this for many
years. And then I realized, you just say, 'Hi.'
They may ignore you. Or you may marry
them. And that possibility is worth that one word."

Augusten Burroughs

I read this quote today on Harley and Jane and it really stuck with me. As humans we crave other humans. Being married to your best friend is amazing and Kennedy is my absolute favorite person in the whole wide world but it is great to have some other friends in your life too. I'm pretty lucky; I have tons of amazing friends. Some I know really well and others I am still getting to know. Today one of my wonderful, and new, friends Darcy told me I should start a DIY section on my blog... and I thought it was a good idea! So starting now Tuesdays will be for featuring my Project of the Week. Check out this weeks project below!

He & She

Supplies:
Modge Podge
2 Foam Brushes
Two pieces of 8 1/2 x 11 paper
Computer/Printer
Canvas
Black paint {or whatever you so desire!}
Ampersand wooden figuring {optional}

I'm sorry there aren't step-by-step pictures... I didn't know this was going to be a tutorial when I made it!

Final Look:

Step 1: Have you and your husband write out reasons that you love each other in a word file in a text box until you fill the screen. Make sure you format both pages the same; same font, same size, same dividers, etc. Make sure the text boxes fill most of the page and that it's centered BUT it doesn't exceed the printing boundaries.

Step 2: Add a new a text box into each file. In the file about the girl write 'SHE' in the new text box and make it as big as possible. Pick whatever color goes with your decor but make sure it's light so your reasons will pop out. Do the same things for the reasons about the boy; add a text box and type 'HE' but make it the same size as 'SHE'. Make sure they are both centered.

Now if something goes wrong DON'T WORRY, you can just print out another one :)

Step 3: Paint your canvas and ampersand black with one of the foam brushes {if you want to use a paint brush I'm sure it would turn out great too!}, it will need two coats, possibly three. Let it dry.

Step 4: Spread Modge Podge on the back of your papers with the foam brush and CAREFULLY place them on the canvases and then spread Modge Podge over the entire surface of the canvas and paper. It will go on cloudy but it will dry clear. If you get bumps or ripples DON'T WORRY mine has a few little ripples and it made me angry but you can't really tell. If you do it perfectly than good for you! :)

Step 5: Let your canvas dry and make sure you wash out your brush or it will dry hard and you won't be able to re-use it!

Step 6: Hang on your wall and enjoy :)

Hope you enjoyed! I also hope you have wonderful old and new friends in your life to adore and to adore you!

What did you adore today?
